Spending time with the Master
This past week I have been spending time with one of the great Origami masters of our time. His name is Michael Lafosse and in the Origami world he is considered one of the best. Michael is one of the very few Origami artists, if not the only one to make his own paper for folding Origami. He just recently opened his "Origamido" studio here in Hawaii for a limited stay with his partner Richard Alexander. The Original "Origamido" studio was opened in 1996 in Haverville MA.
Here is a link for more information:
[link]Michael and Richard make hand-made paper specifically for use in Origami. They have made paper for master Origami artists such as, Robert lang, Satoshi Kamiya, John Montroll, Brian Chan, and many, many more.
Here is some of his work,

His years of experience with paper folding and paper making give him a unique advantage of knowing exactly what he needs to accomplish his goal. Knowing that I'm a dollar bill artist he gave a piece of red speckled paper that had very similar qualities to the dollar. I used that paper to fold him a Koi and it came out beautifully.
Tomorrow morning we will be going to have Dim-sum at a very famous Chinese restaurant here in Hawaii.
Also I told him about Deviantart and I think he's going to join our community. Is that not cool or what.
Just wanted to share the news,
Won Park
please inform us if he joins this community
D'oh, I also didn't know you were in Hawaii!
Let us know when he joins DA, so we can watch him too
